They run pick/rolls, isolations and drive/to kickouts use their superior athletic ability to defeat you on offense. Not very hard to learn for 4 & 5*s they get. Defensively they play straight man, so they have to teach them to pressure the ball on the perimeter and funnel everything to their shot blockers.

VT depends on players buying into team flow on offense and defense. Young's coaching allows his teams to compete against teams with superior talented teams. That's why freshmen are small role players with little playing time. Young needs smart, experienced basketball players who are unselfish.

Now does VT usually attract 4-5* talent? We're not a basketball hotbed so Young needs to find players that will fit in and possibly stick around 4 years. He needs the Jrs & Srs that have spent 4 years with him to be successful.

We're going thru a tough patch this year, but the shots have been there each game. We just need to knock them down. The only thing that concerns me is on defensive boards. That needs to be fixed or we'll be watching TV come tournament time.
